Dacaozi Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Dacaozi of Ninglang County, Yunnan Province. It was named by Fang Runsen in 1976 and published by Yunnan Compiling Group for Regional Stratigraphical Scale (1978).
Lithology and Thickness
Clayey limestone. The lithologic character is mainly composed of unequal thick bioclastic limestone intercalated with clayey limestone and grayish-black shale and siltstone The formation has a thickness of 266 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformable contact with the underlying Pojiao Fm.
Upper contact
Overlain by quartz sandstone of Suotoushan Fm (locally by Qingmen Fm ?).
Regional extent
It is restrictively distributed in Dacaozi, Xilaping, Baicaoping in Ninglang area, Yunnan.

Fossils
It contains corals, bivalves, stromatoporoids and brachiopods, but no index elements were showed.
Age
Depositional setting
A shallow-water mixed facies of carbonates and clastic is suggested.
